Well I did several months of educating myself/shopping. Once I felt like I knew what I was looking for-- I looked everywhere. I looked at Tiffany's, I looked in NYC's diamond district, and I looked at every online retailer that I could find...Eventually I found a diamond that seemed like a great deal-- it was at James Allen, and it was one they actually owned, rather than one they could buy from a vendor. If you've looked online you know this is kindof rare, but James Allen seemed to have more diamonds actually in stock than any other online retailer... Anyway I was somewhat nervous about buying something this big online, but when I recieved my diamond I took it to an independant appraiser and they verified that it was everything it was supposed to be. In the end, I got a 1.6carat, G, IF, Emerald Cut diamond at a great price set in a beautiful platinum band... and oh yeah, she said yes!Anyways: James Allen had a great selection at good prices, and was always honest and straightfoward w/ me.

I received the ring yesterday (Ideal cut Princess, 2.24 carat) and could not breathe for a few minutes; it was absolutely the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in my life.  When I presented it to my now-fiancee, I thought she was going to have a heart attack.  We had looked at the Lucida cuts at Tiffany's a few months ago, and the first thing she asked when she saw the Ideal's sparkle was, "did you buy this at Tiffany's?"  This stone is phenomenal, as beautiful as (if not more so) those we had looked at for over $40,000 dollars.  We have spent the last 24 hours having all of her friends and family gasp and start to cry when they see the ring.  You all have my eternal gratitude and all of my business from this point forward.  We're already planning for the matching earrings. Had the diamond appraised and set. The jeweler was very impressed with the stone. He appraised it at $35,000. He verified that the certificate matched the stone. He said I was crazy to buy it online but he said that I got an incredible deal and a very beautiful diamond. I had some reservations about online buying initially. The diamond arrived this morning and I couldn't be more pleased! This stone is fabulous!...and I don't even mean it as "it's fabulous for an I1", no... it's simply fabulous! I have an AGS graded SI2 and can't see the feather in it from 6" away. I louped this little beauty for close to a minute before I finally saw the main inclusion and even now, I can't see it with the naked eye. The arrows are perfect and it has remarkable fire. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm quite chuffed with myself for having spotted this diamond in your extensive database. And of course, many thanks to you for your prompt attention and great communication! It's now my third purchase from JA and I reckon it's definitely not the last.

Excellent experience! I knew nothing about purchasing a diamond. I did know however that I wanted to give my girlfriend the best I could afford. James Allen offered a broad range of diamonds in my price range. The descriptions were complete and as I found afterward accurate. I made my selections and contacted the James Allen customer service department. I spoke with a customer representative who reassured me that James Allen was a viable company and sold only quality products. She explained the descriptions of the diamonds I had chosen. As it was a ring and and I was unsure of the proper ring size I was pleased to find I could return the ring for resizing. This proved to be unneccesary as I got the ring size correct. The final step in the purchase was to get the ring to me on time as there were travel plans involved. My purchase verification and status was emailed to me and the ring arrived two days earlier than I had hoped. I was impressed with the clarity, color and cut. Needless to say my girlfriend was extremely pleased when I presented it to her . The diamond ring is just plain beautiful, there are no other words for it. The purchasing experience was easy and without sales pressure. As a sidenote I had visited local jewelry dealerships. The sales pressure was high and the cost prohibitive. The diamond I purchased from James Allen proved higher in quality and a substantial savings over what I looked at locally. The James Allen 30 day return policy was reassuring had we not been pleased with the diamond ring. I would recommend James Allen to anyone interested in purchasing a diamond product.

Thank you very much for your time and energy. I'm so glad my diamond expedition is finally over, It's been a long 3 months journey. Looking back, the first month was the easy part. I mainly spent my time online with researching, understanding the parameters, and what to look for. Once I have educated myself enough it was time to face reality. I visited many local stores in the area from high end jewelers to family owned establishments. It's amazing how each store operates so differently. I wont go into any details on that subject but overall I wasn't successful in finding what I want. Which leaves me to online! From the beginning to the end, you've been right on the spot! You've answered all my questions, provided important documentations and when it wasn't available I received it the very next day! Overall, I couldn't find any road blocks why I shouldn't buy online?
