“Did you know that Colorado has diamond mines?” Sarah asked Nick as they made their back east toward Durango.
“I did know that,” Nick told her, “I think you read it to me when we were on our way to see Karen.”
“Do you think Durango, Colorado engagement rings are all somehow really earthy and natural looking?” Sarah asked.
“I’m guessing they have as many ways to set a stone as anywhere else,” Nick responded.
“Durango, Colorado,” Sarah said. “Durango. Dur-an-go.” She leaned over towards Nick. “It’s sounds cool, Durango.
After a necessary tune-up for the Jeep and mailing a box full of stuff home, Nick and Sarah set off for Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah. Nick figured that, since Mormons are way into marriage, and celebrities are way into marrying a lot of times, Salt Lake City/Park City, Utah must be Engagement Ring Central. They both liked the idea that they were looking for diamonds in a place where there were diamond-ranked ski trails.
Nick and Sarah were heading east again, this time to go on a bike trek and to see Boise, Idaho engagement rings. They were once again looking to find something that had a distinctly local flavor, an engagement ring that you couldn’t get just anywhere. The more they knew about what people wanted around the country, the better. They had already seen so much of the country that they had never imagined they would see, and knew that few people had the opportunities they had.
Nick and Sarah left Vancouver a little sore, but committed to training more. They knew that engagement rings in Spokane, Washington were likely to contain some local Spokane flavor. The Pacific Northwest was like another world. It was an outdoorsy world where there were beautiful parks and funky tourist attractions and one thing that Sarah was particularly intrigued by.
Although Sarah never got to see Tom Robbins by the side of the road in La Conner, she and Nick were looking forward to exploring Vancouver, another “green city”, and seeing what kind of diamond engagement rings Vancouver, British Columbia might have. Neither of them had ever been to Vancouver, but they had both heard that it was a very eco-friendly city and they had a mountain they were looking forward to climbing. They were both happy to be competing in the Grouse Grind Mountain Run, an insane running hike up rough terrain.
Again heading north, Nick and Sarah were going to see what funky engagement rings Seattle, Washington had to offer. The city itself was so cool, they figured the jewelry would be as well. They arrived at the Moore Hotel and were immediately impressed. It was immensely cool looking. After checking in, they walked down to the Pike Place Market. Although the evening was cool, Sarah wore a tank top under her jacket. She had plans for the market that night.
The next day was back to business, for the most part. They wanted to check out as much of Portland as they could. They started the day by running at Tom McCall Waterfront Park along the Willamette River. Then, having sweated out pure Grey Goose, they went back to the hotel to shower. Since Portland was such a funky city, they decided to check out one of the more off-beat jewelers. They headed downtown, to SW Broadway, where they found themselves in a shop that had jewelry that looked more like art.
As Nick and Sarah drove north toward Oregon, they saw some of the most beautiful vineyards and trees—not every road trip was like this. They were very happy to learn that, as they looked for Medford, Oregon engagement rings, they would also be looking for southern Oregon’s finest wines.
Nick and Sarah were a little sad to leave their hippie hotel, but were ecstatic about looking for fine wines and fine diamond engagement rings in Wine Country, California. They had seen the names on so many bottles before. Calistoga, Napa Valley, Sonoma, Glen Ellen, Oakville, Kenwood. They were the holy grails of American wines. So they set off for the town of Rutherford, California.
Sarah knew that, of all places, she could find fantastic antique diamond engagement rings in San Francisco. Sarah had booked their room at the Red Victorian Inn at 1662 Haight Street, San Francisco, CA 94117. She was giddy to find that “Flower Child Room” was available during their stay, which was to be a few days longer than most places so they could hit up Wine Country for a day as well.
