It’s Not an Engagement Ring, but This Blackberry Will Make Her Love You

Since everyone started carrying around at least one mobile phone, a whole new industry has arisen from the ashes of those giant Zack-from-Saved-by-the-Bell-style foot-long cellular dinosaurs.  Now it isn’t enough to have an iPhone, a Blackberry, a Sidekick.  Now there are designers who spend their days looking for ways to pimp your phone.

Amosu, a mobile phone ‘customizer’, has just released what it claims is the world’s most expensive cell phone.  At about $200,266 USD, it is, at present, the current leader.  This Blackberry has been encrusted with 4,459 round brilliant diamonds weighing in at a total of 28.42 carats set into 18-karat yellow gold.  It offers a 24-hour global concierge service, as well.

But it isn’t just the price that makes this handheld device exclusive.  Only three like it have been produced.  Amosu did create an ad for the phone, but, with only 3 in existence and a very limited possible clientele, one has to wonder who the advertising is trying to reach.  Perhaps by creating a greater demand for opulent cell phone designs, they will come up with the next most expensive cell phone in the world.

Alexander Amosu has also offered the option of personalizing each phone by etching the name of the owner into the back of each device, and at no extra cost.

Should the price tag of this phone be too much, a buyer can get a simple, 18-karat gold Blackberry for only $12,000.  A simple black phone with three rows of diamonds embedded below the keypad and diamonds surrounding the camera lens on the back of the phone is only $9,600.

To protect the new Blackberry Curve, there are many cases available.  The most luxurious is the Case-mate Diamond Case.  Made from a rare gold carbon fiber leather, it is embedded with 42 diamonds totaling 3.5 carats.  They are set in 18-karat gold.  This case was also designed in a limited number, but, at $18,000 USD, it is, again, aimed at a limited client base.

Gone are the days of simple cell phone used to make and receive calls.  They have become status symbols, a representation of who we are as people.  If opulence is what a customer wants and they have the resources to back it up, the sky is the limit when it comes to mobile hand-held design.
