Relative Finds Missing Ring In Mall Lot
Here's an interesting story that gives the term "small world" some serious credibility. After spending Thanksgiving with his parents in Chicago, Michael Ebner decided to go shopping on “Black Friday” before heading home to Indiana. He was accompanied on his shopping trip to Peru Mall by his son, Ryan, and daughter-in-law, Bethany. According to Michael’s recollection, Bethany removed her wedding ring and engagement ring in the car to apply hand lotion. She assumed she placed the rings in her purse, but most likely just left them on her lap. When they left the car, both gems fell to the floor, but no one noticed. Hours later, after realizing that Bethany has lost her rings, they returned to the mall parking lot where their car was parked. They returned to the parking lot and found the wedding band on the pavement where their car was parked. But the engagement ring was nowhere to be found. They searched and searched, but with no avail. “We pretty much thought it was gone,” explained Michael. Weezer's Rivers Cuomo Injured In Bus Accident
Rivers Cuomo, the lead singer of Weezer, suffered internal injuries when the band’s tour bus hit some ice and skidded across the New York State Thruway, hit a guide rail, and eventually slid into a ditch early Sunday morning. Rivers Cuomo was traveling with his wife, 2-year-old daughter, and assistant Sarah Kim. Cuomo and Kim were transported by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, N.Y. Rivers’ wife and child were unharmed. Rivers exchanged wedding rings with Kyoko Ito in 2006. They gave birth to daughter Mia in 2007. The passengers were traveling east to Boston, where the band was scheduled to perform on Monday. The vehicle struck a patch of ice and the driver lost control. The vehicle mounted the median, rammed a guide rail on the right shoulder and crashed into a ditch alongside the roadway. Weezer’s drummer, Patrick Wilson, Tweeted about the accident hours after the crash: “It was perfect conditions for black ice. Diamond Dealers Building New Building in NY
Diamonds are very popular, especially in the United States. But did you know that one in every two diamonds sold in the U.S. comes from Israel? Well, it’s true. Despite it’s tiny size, Israel is one of the leading diamond trade centers in the world. Israel’s diamond industry, based at the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) in Ramat Gan, is a model that many countries seek to adapt when setting up their own diamond trade centers. According to Avi Paz, the President of the IDE: “From India, from Turkey, and from other countries, people have come to learn from us how to organize secure compounds for diamond dealers. We teach them how to provide a commercial infrastructure for the diamond dealer from a security perspective and supporting services for the diamond dealers.” A new building in New York’s Diamond District will be built according to the Israeli model. Expected to be completed by 2011, the building is estimated to cost $750 million. Executives from Extell, the building firm, say the building will be called the International Gem Tower. The International Gem Tower will replace the hundreds of old and rundown buildings in the Diamond District on 47th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues in Manhattan. Couple Tweets During Wedding Ceremony
It’s good to know that the torch of tradition burns brighter and brighter as it is passed from generation to generation. Remember those ancient Greek wedding ceremonies where the newly wed couple updated their Facebook status in real-time? No? Well, that’s because it never happened… but now it does. After Tracy Page and Dana Hanna were officially pronounced husband and wife, Dana instantly updated his Facebook and Twitter status via his PDA. Dana Hanna is a software developer known as “The Software Jedi”. Somehow he found time to exchange wedding rings with Tracy Page, but maybe to her chagrin. Within minutes of being pronounced ‘man and wife’, Hanna pulled out his smartphone and began to social network. “Standing at the altar with @TracyPage where just a second ago, she became my wife! Gotta go, time to kiss my bride,” he Tweeted. When the celebrant (who knew about the Tweet plan ahead of time) announced that “Dana is updating his relationship status on Facebook,” the room burst into collective laughter. Hanna published a short video of the event on YouTube. He has already received nearly 90,000 views thus far. Roman Polanski Still In Jail To Pay Bail
It looks like notorious director Roman Polanski will be held in jail for at least three more days because he needs time to pay his staggering $4.5 million bail, Swiss authorities revealed on Tuesday. All other conditions have been met to allow the 76-year-old auteur to be placed under house arrest at his Alpine chalet. The bail transfer is expected in the next few days said Ministry spokesman Folco Galli. During his house arrest, Polanski will be fitted with an electronic monitoring bracelet. He will not be allowed to leave his house in Gstaad until Switzerland decides whether or not to extradite him to the U.S. for sentencing. Polanski’s bail is set for $4.5 million, which he must pay in full. Roman has been held in Swiss custody since his arrest on September 26. He travelled to Zurich to receive a lifetime achievement award and was subsequently apprehended. The courts in Los Angeles want him returned for sentencing for a crime he committed over 31 years ago. On Monday, Polanski was visited in jail by his lawyer Lorenz Erni and French diplomat Jean-Luc Faure-Tournaire. Faure-Tournaire said Polanski was in "good spirits" and satisfied with how he has been treated. It is uncertain when Polanski's wife and two children would join him in Gstaad. A spokesman for former President Bill Clinton told ABC News that his daughter, Chelsea Clinton, is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky. Chelsea is the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton - the current Secretary of State in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet. She met Mezvinsky when they were both teenagers in Washington. They both attended Stanford University in California. Mezvinsky is a son of former Pennsylvania Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and former Iowa Rep. Ed Mezvinsky, who are longtime friends of the Clintons. Man Appeals For Stolen Ring To Be Returned
David Hayes-MacLeod, 27, from Uxbridge, UK, is appealing for the return of his wedding ring, which he believes was stolen from his gym locker. He is requesting that the public be on the lookout for the ‘distinctive’ design of the white gold ring encrusted with diamonds, estimated to be worth around £800. MacLeod is a primary school teacher. He was a member of Fitness First Gym until he cancelled his membership following the theft. He has reported the stolen ring to the police and they are also urging the public to be alert to its potential whereabouts. As the holiday season approaches, upscale retailers are taking decadence to new levels, creating luxury items that most mere mortals can only dream of. Taking normal items and turning them gold, or embedding diamonds and other jewels into them is becoming more common, and it’s almost a contest to see who can come up with the most ostentatious holiday gift.
