Decadent Gifts Abound This Holiday Season
As the holiday season approaches, upscale retailers are taking decadence to new levels, creating luxury items that most mere mortals can only dream of. Taking normal items and turning them gold, or embedding diamonds and other jewels into them is becoming more common, and it’s almost a contest to see who can come up with the most ostentatious holiday gift. If you’re in the market for a cell phone, there are a few new options if you have some extra money. Legendary phone designer Stuart Hughes worked with Davide De Nizza to create a special line called the “Diamond Blackberry Vintage Edition”. The phone is embedded with VS1 black and white diamonds. The back of the phone is covered in Indonesian python skin, and the front has python-skin accents. Because of the rarity of the Indonesian python, and to make the phone more alluring to collectors, only 10 of these phones will be produced, and each will cost just over $7,500. Stuart Hughes also recently announced the creation of the “18-Karat Gold Solid Rose Gold iPhone. It is the first iPhone made of solid rose gold, using 150 grams. 39 Carat Evening Star Diamond Up For Auction
A glorious 39 carat diamond known as the Evening Star is going on the auction block at Christie’s in New York City. The Evening Star is a 39 carat, pear-shaped, D color diamond, and is estimated to be worth between $3.6 million and $5.5 million. Christie’s is including the Evening Star as a masterpiece at it ‘Magnificent Jewels for a Distinguished Private Collector’ auction. The auction will feature 10 special jewels and will be held on December 10, 2009. The diamond, which was mined from India’s Golconda mines, received its name from its former owner - she chose to wear it to evening galas as a pendant on a diamond necklace of 68 graduated pear-shaped diamonds embedded in platinum. The necklace itself is estimated to be worth $400,000 to $600,000. It is being offered as a separate item in the sale. Also, a matching pair of diamond ear pendants - with two pear-shaped, D-color diamonds of 10.21 and 10.51 carats - is estimated to fetch $1.7 million to $2.5 million. Two Cullinan Diamonds Sell For $2.8 Million
Petra diamonds has revealed that two Cullinan white diamonds were sold early in November for a combined value of $2.8 million. The diamonds were 58 and 53 carats. Petra believes that the prices these diamonds went for suggests that another two diamonds recovered in the same production series earlier this year, 507 and 168 carats, will go for a handsome price. Petra is very pleased with the prices achieved for the two diamonds. The 58.49 carat stone sold for $1.82 million and the 53.31 carat stone sold for $0.96 million. Petra is still deciding how to market it 507 carat diamond to maximize profit. According to experts, the stone is of exceptional color and clarity. However, it seems that the 168 carat diamond will be sold first. Diamond prices at Petra have been on the incline since the financial year’s end. The most recent diamond tenders saw strong prices, particularly in October and early November. The company reported that it has sold a number of ‘special’ diamonds from the Cullinan and Koffiefontein mines in the last four months. ...

That’s right… The Oprah Winfrey show is going off the air on September 9, 2010 - less than a year from now. Oprah made the announcement on the Friday broadcast of her hit show. She fought back tears as she explained her decision to the audience. “Twenty-five years feels right in my bones and feels right in my spirit,” she confessed. The Oprah Winfrey Show first aired on September 8, 1986. In the beginning she primarily discussed relationships and typical talk show fodder. During the late 90s, her show changed focus and began incorporating spirituality and human interest stories. In 1993, Michael Jackson gave his first television in more than a decade. He invited Oprah to his home at Neverland for the 90-minute interview that was seen by more than 100 million people around the world. In 2004, for her 19th season premiere, Oprah gave each member in her audience the keys to a brand new Pontiac G6. In 2005, Tom Cruise embarrassed himself on Oprah’s couch. Although strong rumors persist that the couple is engaged and set to marry very soon, the pair refuse to shed light on the situation. Brad And Angelina Design Diamond Jewelry
As if super-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie don’t have enough on their plate, now they’re designing diamond jewelry… and serpent-themed jewelry at that. The duo has teamed up with top British Jeweler Asprey to release a series of serpent-themed designs, which include earrings, pendants, bangles, rings, silver spoons and an egg cup. Being the charitable pair they are, Brad and Angelina will give 100% of the net proceeds to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict. Already, the couple has donated $1 million in June 2008 through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation. The inspiration for the jewelry comes from the time Angelina was pregnant with daughter Shiloh in 2006. She was given a gift that was to serve as a protective guardian – a snake ring. “Since then she has seen the snake symbol as a protective talisman for her family,” says a source at Asprey. Kings of Leon Drummer Weds
This past Saturday, Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill exchanged wedding rings with singer Jessie Baylin in an outdoor ceremony in Brentwood, Tennessee. On Sunday morning, Followill Tweeted: “I woke up with a married woman in my bed this morning. Luckily she was mine.” The wedding took place at Brentwood's Wolf Den Farm, followed by dinner and dancing in a barn on the property. Dinner was catered by Nashville restaurant Miel. Not surprisingly, the couple's first dance was to an instrumental Hawaiian lap steel guitar number. “It was a gorgeous 70 degree day and the wedding was beautiful. It was a very love-affirming wedding with lots of warmth and happiness,” said a spokesperson. Guests included Followill's Kings of Leon bandmates and brothers Caleb and Jared Followill, plus bandmate and cousin Matthew Followill. Also in attendance was Scarlett Johansson, who went to high school with the bride, and country singer Billy Currington. Nathan, 30, met Jessie, 25, at Bonnaroo 2006. Eddie Cibrian’s Estranged Wife Has No Money
According to Los Angeles court papers, Brandi Glanville says she cannot afford to buy the basic necessities like food and gas because her estranged husband, Eddie Cibrian, control her means of finance, specifically her credit cards. Glanville, 36, is a former model. Upon exchanging wedding rings with Cibrian, she became a full-time mom. She is requesting at least $39,963 in monthly support from her estranged husband: $11,942 to cover her mortgage, $4,000 for eating out, $3,000 for clothes, $1,500 for child care, $750 for Pilates and another $750 for massages and facials, among other needs. Cibrian filed for divorce after going public about his relationship with country star LeAnn Rimes. Regarding divorce in California, spouses have a legal right to ask the higher earner to support the lifestyle they were accustomed to during the marriage. Glanville, who's unemployed, claims that Cibrian makes $60,000 gross per week from CSI: Miami.
